`No Pay' Thai Debtor Stays Afloat Despite Losing Empire.

Jul. 1--He's a man lenders love to loathe. Many bankers have him on their blacklists and he has been branded by various critics as a borrower who could repay his loans but refuses to do so in the hope of persuading his creditors to make concessions.

But after five of economic turmoil, Sawasdi Horrungruang, once a steel tycoon, is enjoying life although he no longer controls the empire he founded.

NTS Steel Plc, which makes long-shaped steel pieces, used to be one of his flagships. Recently, it sealed an agreement with Siam Cement Group to merge their steel production. The deal was three years in the making.
