Jul. 1--PENSION FUND TO GAIN FLEXIBILITY: The law governing the Government Pension Fund (GPF) is being reviewed to give the fund investment flexibility in a changing environment, said Somchainuk Engtrakul, the finance permanent secretary.
The proposed amendments, if approved, will allow GPF members to make their own investments without having to follow the GPF's investments as required now.
The committee reviewing the law will ask a subcommittee to study investment options and make recommendations to the GPF board.
However, it will be a few years before any amendments take effect given the time-consuming legislative process.
