Aug. 7--Thailand and India are set to sign a framework for the reduction of import duties on 82 product items by 50 percent under an "early harvest" agreement as part of their free trade area (FTA) pact.
Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, the vice-minister for commerce, said the agreement would be signed in two weeks and would take effect on Sept 1.
The early-harvest programme, part of the broader Thailand-India FTA signed last October, will result in the elimination of tariffs on selected farm products and industrial goods within the third year of implementation.
