Aug. 7--The Government Savings Bank has joined with the private company Aureos Capital to set up a $30-million fund to invest in local small and medium-sized businesses.
Aureos is a manager of private equity funds owned by the CDC, an investment arm of the UK government, and NorFund, a Norwegian investment fund for emerging markets.
GSB director-general Goanpot Asvinvichit said Aureos would provide $20 million for the five-year fund, with the rest coming from the state bank.
He said Aureos chose the GSB as its partner due to the bank's broad branch network and customer base.
