Jul. 5--The Securities and Exchange Commission insists that it remains committed to taking legal action against unlicensed companies offering securities services.
Rapee Sucharitakul, the SEC's assistant secretary-general, said the commission was committed to enforcing local securities regulations and suppressing so-called "boiler room" activities.
Under the SEC Act, section 90 clearly states that securities businesses can only be operated by firms receiving a proper licence from the finance minister on a recommendation by the commission.
