Jul. 5--Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) stand to lose at least nine billion baht as a result of the government's plan to axe the tax rebate on imported raw materials used in producing exports, Dhamma Pinsukanchana, the chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries' Tax and Duty Committee, said yesterday.
Local auto parts manufacturers, in particular, would immediately lose more than one billion baht, as the move would automatically force auto assemblers to use imported parts that attract lower duty rates.
