Jul. 3--The Consumer Protection Board is studying measures to curb high interest rates charged by credit cards, according to board secretary-general Anuwat Dharmadhaj.
He said the board had received numerous complaints from credit card users about excessively high interest rates, hidden fees and other conditions imposed on users.
Local banks generally charge interest rates based on a premium above their minimum retail rates. Annual rates now range from 17 percent to 18 percent for Thai banks and up to 25-30 percent for foreign banks.
