Jul. 3--Cabinet ministers yesterday approved new legal changes aimed at helping the Industrial Finance Corp of Thailand reduce funding costs and compete better with local banks.
The 1959 IFCT Act formally established the financial institution to support expansion of the business sector, encourage new investment and help develop the capital markets.
Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said the amendments were aimed at supporting good corporate governance at the IFCT and increasing channels for the firm to raise funds, including through public deposits.
