Jul. 2--Business people in Rochester may recognize Gary Lingbeck as one of eight founders who built local Pemstar Inc. into an international electronics manufacturing firm.
Today, he crushes cans for a living. Or, more precisely, his machines do.
Can Cyclor Equipment Inc. is flattening aluminum cans and food service-sized steel cans for recycling.
The company now has figured out how to smash plastic soda bottles efficiently, and Lingbeck says his company is putting an automated crusher on the market about Aug. 1. The trick is to puncture the bottles first to let air escape.
