Jul. 24--WASHINGTON--The Surface Transportation Board on Monday gave permission for the purchase of the I&M Rail Link by a subsidiary of the Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad.
The federal board approved the transaction with the caveat that it, like all other railroad purchases, is subject to more review. The I&M runs through Austin.
Labor groups, an I&M shipping customer and the Iowa Department of Transportation had asked that the board look further into the purchase's potential effects before approving it. But the board denied their requests, saying the transaction between two small railroads meets the legal ...
