Aug. 3--Thai Military Bank aims to become the country's leader in electronic payments this year, said Wera Chantachaeng, an executive vice-president.
TMB was currently the local leader for holders of Visa Electron cards, with 1.25 million cards issued out of a total of three million in circulation, he said.
The figure excluded the bank's 700,000 electron cards and 40,000 ATM cards, both of which are also used as student identity cards.
Niwat Tutiyapak, first vice-president in charge of marketing, said the bank aimed to issue 300,000 to 400,000 new cards by the end of this year.
