Aug. 2--While the pace of media reform picks up in the local market, Thai business operators in the audio-visual industry are facing new challenges by foreigners pressing the government for further liberalisation under the new round of global trade talks.
The new round of negotiations in the services sector under the World Trade Organisation (WTO) started in February 2000 and includes liberalisation of audio-visual businesses such as motion pictures and video production and distribution, motion picture projection, radio and television transmission and sound recording.
