Aug. 1--The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) has completed its privatisation plan, with corporatisation scheduled for March 2004 and an initial public offering of shares in June of the same year.
The management and union agreed earlier that the privatisation should be postponed from 2002 to 2004, as the organisation needed to be streamlined and strengthened first, according to MEA governor Chalit Ruengvisesh.
The agency is now preparing terms of reference to select consultants for the privatisation, with bids to be called in September.
