Aug. 1--Local building contractors have warned that the prices of several construction materials are likely to rise following the government's recent approval of anti-dumping duties on imported hot-rolled steel.
"Prices of other construction materials would normally rise if the prices of steel and cement increase," said Phumsan Rotelertchanya, secretary-general of the Thai Contractors' Association.
"Not only consumers in general but also hundreds of domestic contractors will definitely be affected, while just a few steel manufacturers have benefited from the measure."
