Aug. 1--BENBROOK, Texas--State National Bank of Texas has posted for foreclosure an equestrian center built nearly 20 years ago to serve Benbrook's upscale Rolling Hills development.
The property was auctioned before, but this time the auction is scheduled to be on the steps of the Tarrant County Courthouse.
The 28.4-acre site is owned by Irving-based Shepherd's Valley, which acquired the property in a September 1996 auction held by then-owner Walt Garrison, a former Dallas Cowboys running back.
At the time, the group planned to turn the complex at 10180 Rolling Hills Drive into an accredited Bible college that would be host for horse camps and clinics for troubled teen-agers. Shepherd's Valley planned a major redevelopment, including adding dormitories.
Larry Bone, a board member for Shepherd's Production in Irving who has been involved in the property's development as Mission Ridge School, could not be reached to comment. Telephone numbers to the property, his home and office are not in service.
According to the foreclosure posting, Shepherd's Valley has defaulted on a $689,480 note. The property is scheduled to be sold at auction on the courthouse steps Tuesday.
