Thai Finance Official Emphasizes Need for Structural Reform for Economy.

Aug. 6--Structural reform is crucial for the country's education, tax and bureaucratic systems if long-term sustainable growth is to be achieved, according to Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak.
"We need a clear blueprint for reform. Not just decorate or spruce up the house, but build a completely new foundation," he told an economics seminar yesterday.
While the Thai economy was certain to show an improvement this year from 2001, uncertainties in the American economy posed a risk for the country's overall future.
