Aug. 5--The Secondary Mortgage Corporation expects to reach its target of 10 billion baht in assets by the end of next year, according to executive chairman Wera Chantachaeng.
"Right now, we're thinking that if we can meet our target for secondary mortgages, whether we should push for legal amendments to allow for a broader range of securitisations," he said.
The SMC was set up by the Finance Ministry to support home mortgage securitisation and boost the credit markets for home lending.
The organisation operates under a specific 1997 law and is 100 percent owned by the Finance Ministry.
