"With The Edge, his guitar playing is this beautiful noise that creates a backdrop of color where what's in the foreground is always more in focus," says the Used's Quinn Allman. "There's a lot of air in his sound, which lets the vocals stick out of the mix. That's kind of what I like to do--create an atmosphere you can almost walk into. I started out listening to punk and hardcore, and I like riffs, but if you just play intense riffs, you'll ultimately be held back by the intensity.
