Sep. 5--Thailand is lagging behind in the development of a third natural gas transmission pipeline system, which is restricting the search for local energy, according to Unocal Thailand, a unit of the California-based Unocal Corp.
"Gas deposits are not our main concern but it is the pipeline to bring gas ashore," said Vites Vitsanuvimol, Unocal Thailand's vice-president for public affairs.
Gas reserves in Thailand are currently estimated at between 40 trillion and 60 trillion cubic feet, sufficient for 60 years.
