Sep. 5--Attracting foreign institutional investors to the local bond market and strengthening the role of non-bank financial institutions will be crucial for the development of the capital markets in the future, according to Thirachai Phuvanat-naranubala, deputy governor of the Bank of Thailand.
Hundreds of top finance executives and regulators met yesterday on the opening day of a three-day regional conference on non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs), sponsored by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the World Bank.
