Sep. 2--Top Thai trade officials will meet European Union counterparts this week in an attempt to resolve the issue of chemicals found in Thai shrimp and chicken exports.
Early this year, the EU detected traces of nitrofurans, a veterinary drug banned for use in the livestock industry in samples of poultry, and chloramphenicol in shrimps.
After that, the EU decided to examine all consignments from Thailand, as well as from Vietnam and Burma, instead of making random checks.
