Aug. 29--WASHINGTON--It's only a federal census category, but it affects where you shop, what restaurants you go to, where you receive health care and how the rest of the world sees you.

"It" is the Metropolitan Statistical Area, the federal designation of an urban area's boundaries. Wichita's current MSA includes Sedgwick, Harvey and Butler counties. But Harvey County's inclusion has been in jeopardy since year 2000 census data endangered its status as part of the Wichita MSA.

As of Wednesday that's no longer a concern, at least not for another decade.
