APS board gives charter another chance.(Evening)

The test scores for Paseo del Monte Middle School were so shocking the Albuquerque Board of Education president felt the charter school should be closed.

But on Wednesday, President Mary Lee Martin voted with the rest of the board to give the struggling school another chance to prove itself.

It will be the last chance, Martin vowed.

"Those kids didn't learn anything," she told officials from Paseo del Monte who asked for the board's patience. "I am surprised parents would come back. Those were some of the worst test scores I have seen in my life."
