Aug. 4--The government hopes to lure major automakers into relocating their production sites for highly fuel-efficient "eco" cars to the kingdom with favourable new excise tax rates, according to the vice-minister for industry, Vachara Phanchet.
Widely expected to benefit the most from the recently adjusted rates, eco cars apparently were not included in the category covering environmentally friendly vehicles such as hybrids and fuel cell-powered models.
While almost all of the revamped tax structures have been completed, the government has decided to issue the new framework without levying an excise tax on eco cars ...
