Oct. 1--NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla.--An Israeli scientist thinks he may have the solution to painful stings that jellyfish have inflicted on nearly 2,000 Volusia County swimmers this summer.
During a clinical trial in New Smyrna Beach on Monday, researchers found that a lotion developed several years ago in Israel appears to block painful stings from a type of box jellyfish, or sea wasp, recently found floating off the Central Florida coastline.
Sea Safe Lotion, already available in some Florida stores, is thought to inhibit the stings of jellyfish and other stinging sea creatures found in the eastern Mediterranean. ...
