Oct. 1--WINTER PARK, Fla.--Laura Finn usually moves bats because they're bothering people, but in her latest operation she evicted nearly 1,000 of the night fliers for a different reason: to save their lives.
It happened this weekend at the Fairbanks Avenue pedestrian overpass across Interstate 4 -- where five colonies of free-tailed bats have roosted for years. The bats had to move because the overpass is being torn down in the next few weeks as part of an I-4 widening project.
