Thai Deputy Commerce Minister Claims Cement Firm Inflates Costs.
Oct. 4--Siam Cement Plc is being scrutinised for allegedly exaggerating its costs, which could be adding as much as 200 to 300 baht a tonne to the retail price of its products, according to Newin Chidchob, the outgoing deputy commerce minister.
Mr Newin said the country's largest cement producer appeared to have factored unusually high depreciation and interest costs into its calculations when requesting permission to raise prices.
