Oct. 3--New revisions to the Public Companies Act will strengthen protection for minority shareholders, increase disclosure and transparency of corporate actions and raise penalties imposed for violations.

Suvarn Valaisathien, deputy commerce minister and head of a committee overseeing the amendments, said the proposed changes had already been passed to Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak for review.

Dr Suvarn said the revised draft was expected to be submitted to the cabinet shortly.
