Oct. 3--Heavy floods that have had a devastating effect on residents countrywide could reduce this year's economic growth to below the target 4.5 percent, according to the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB).
The floods in more than 50 provinces would have a substantial adverse impact on agricultural production and eventually on gross domestic product (GDP), said Chakramon Phasukvanich, the NESDB secretary-general.
Last month, the agency projected strong economic growth of 4-4.5 percent for this year.
