Oct. 5--Liquor tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi's empire has expanded into Scotland with the acquisition of Inver House Distillers, the United Kingdom's third-largest liquor company.
The deal is just one in a series of recent takeovers by Mr Charoen as he diversifies his portfolio with the purchase of foreign breweries and distilleries, as well as investment in the hotel and insurance industries.
Executives of AsiaBev Co, Mr Charoen's new distributing arm for imported beer and wine, confirmed that the tycoon had bought Inver House, a firm that boasts 150 brands and owns five malt whisky distilleries in Scotland.
