Oct. 15--U.S. Senate candidates Frank Lautenberg and Douglas Forrester traded accusations Monday over who would better protect the Social Security benefits of future recipients, but both said they oppose any attempt to allow employees to invest part of their future Social Security benefits.

With just three weeks until election, Lautenberg visited a senior citizens complex in Hamilton Township and signed a pledge that he would oppose diverting Social Security funds to fund private investment accounts of employees.
