Aug. 3--Wichai Thongtaeng, a lawyer who successfully defended Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in his asset-concealment case before the Constitutional Court in 2001, will be approached to mediate between the two major shareholder groups of the privatised NFC Fertilizer Plc.
The move came after a failed tender offer by Nuttaphob Ratanasuwanthawee, who leads one of the two major groups, holding 39.73 percent, for all 149.8 million outstanding shares at a price of 11.50 baht each.
Only a few retail investors and PTT Plc, which had a 0.53 percent stake in NFC after the debt restructuring, agreed to sell their shares to Mr Nuttaphob.
