Aug. 3--In preparation for the heightened business competition that will follow energy industry liberalisation, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) is preparing to introduce its own brands of household electrical equipment to the retail market.
MEA governor Chalit Ruengvisesh said the products, including plugs and sockets, ballasts, starters, tubes and switches, will be produced and distributed under the MEAtech brand.
He said the MEA would not produce the products itself but would outsource production to local manufacturers who would use MEA designs and technology.
