Aug. 3--Kasikornbank wants to acquire a securities licence and expand into the hire-purchase market as part of its bid to become a universal bank offering a one-stop financial service for clients, according to bank president Prasarn Trairatvorakul.
Dr Prasarn said the company would seek to purchase only a licence, rather than look for joint venture opportunities or acquire an existing operation.
"We will only buy a business licence, and set up a new team on our own. We have the human resources to run a securities business for wholesale and equity investment banking," he said.
