Aug. 3--Air-conditioner manufacturers are using price competition as well as new technologies to woo consumers. In the latter case, manufacturers are parading out new products with internal air-purifying technology that kills airborne germs, presenting a challenge to units with external air purifiers.
Price competition is seen mainly among manufacturers of locally branded and Chinese-made air-conditioners, while makers of international premium brands are stressing air quality through high technology.
