Oct. 23--More Florida schools this year are using cash received as a reward for boosting student achievement to supplement teacher salaries that are among the lowest in the country, local school officials say.
The state Department of Education recently gave 236 Central Florida schools a total of $22 million for earning A's or boosting their grades on the state's annual report card.
