Aug. 2--THE ART OF PARTICIPATIVE MANAGEMENT: Recently, we worked on a sales coaching project with a medium-sized bank, which was trying to turn its 50 support staff into effective salespeople. We divided the participants into three groups and planned five days of sales theory in the classroom and 15 days of on-the-job training. We picked four people from the first two groups to be trained as sales leaders.

On the day that I coached the four sales leaders, I intended to start off by offering my opinion of the roles and responsibilities of sales leaders.

I already had in mind about four or five key points that I wanted to illustrate.

The team and I had already dropped most of our initial formality since we had been working together for a few weeks.
