Aug. 2--The Thailand Automotive Institute has approached major carmakers and auto parts producers about investing around seven billion baht to build an automotive testing complex.
The complex will house 13 testing labs and 11 proving grounds for motor vehicles and parts.
Vallop Tiasiri, the executive director of the institute, said that although the government would have no problem paying for the whole venture, the project should not rely on state investment alone since it could end up functioning like a bureaucratic institution.
