Nov. 6--Tariffs on eight product categories will be cut over a period of three years starting on Jan 1, 2004, in the "early harvest" phase of the Asean-China Free Trade Area, according to Adisai Bodharamik, the commerce minister.
On Monday, Asean and Chinese leaders signed a framework agreement on comprehensive economic co-operation, which included steps toward the establishment of the free trade area within 10 years.
