Nov. 2--Surging demand for silicones has prompted GE Thailand to commit an additional 2.2 billion baht to build a new silicone finishing production base in Rayong to strengthen its regional operations.
GE Toshiba Silicones, a joint venture between General Electric of the United States and Toshiba Corporation of Japan, has been established with an investment ratio of 51:49.
The factory, on 49 rai in Asia Industrial Estate, is due to become operational in the first half of 2004.
