Nov. 1--About 15,000 members of the state-backed Allied Retail Trade Co (ART) will start placing orders to run their convenience shops across the country today.

Members had applied to join the scheme through provincial chambers during the previous two months, said Surin Tohtubtiang, vice-chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.

A computerised system, linking each chamber with ART in Bangkok, has been installed to allow members in each province to place orders online.
