LOS ANGELES, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Hollywood actress Catherine Zeta- Jones testified Wednesday at a hearing against an obsessed female fan of her husband who sent death threats in letters and phone calls which drove her to the brink of a nervous breakdown.
Reading to a court excerpts from 19 letters containing violent mutilation and death threats, the Oscar-winning star said that she felt as though she were "about to faint."
Zeta-Jones and her husband, Michael Douglas, took the witness stand at a preliminary hearing in a packed Los Angeles courtroom for Dawnette Knight, who is accused of stalking and threatening the actress.
The written and telephoned threats "affected me and ... will affect me for the rest of my life," Zeta-Jones, 34, testified. "I knew there were many, many death threats against me, "Zeta- Jones said Wednesday. "I knew they were violent but I did not know they would be as satanic as this."
