What does the always-outspoken filmmaker Spike Lee think about the controversy surrounding Republican Sen. Trent Lott?

"He's gotta go," Lee told The Miami Herald during an interview to promote his new film, "25th Hour."

"Historically, he's been saying this all along. He hasn't changed. The guy is a card-carrying member of the Klan. I'm glad he's saying it out in the open, too, because he's not the only one who thinks that way. I'm not even going to cut it along party lines. He's not the only senator, Democratic or Republican, who thinks that way."

Lee says he's not surprised that President Bush hasn't called for Lott's resignation outright. But he expressed disappointment at the lack of criticism from other political figures.
