Dutch, I enjoyed your June 19 column on Al Unser Jr. I thought your column about Al two years ago was pretty harsh because you wanted him to leave the sport in shame. I wrote you back then to criticize your column and ask you to give Al a second chance. It looks like Al has taken and stayed the sober road. I was happy to see him competitive again, though the glory was short-lived. I'm sure his future will be bright, even if it isn't behind the wheel.

My fondest Unser memory is a corporate party for my customers at Long Beach in the motor home area, with the Unsers' setup directly across from us. I was thrilled when Al, Bobby, Little Al (who won the race, as usual) and their guest, Jay Leno, accepted our invitation to join our party. The whole family is classy and I'll remain a fan as long as Unsers drive race cars.
