Enthusiasts say the Porsche 997 is a great sports car, but disagree as to whether the 911 should evolve into a more modern design or retain its traditional design cues.

After seeing the images of the new 997, all I could think about was how easy it must be for Porsche designers to work on subsequent versions. It's hard to get excited over something that's been around for 40 years.

Many of the 996's interior and exterior design elements that I detest seem to be upgraded in the 997. The car now looks like a logical successor to the much-loved 993. The Turbo version may actually convince me to part with my 993 Turbo, which the 996 never did.
