Dec. 4--Pop singer Ruangsak "James" Loychusak has entered the food business with the launch of his own James Chicken Rice brand, to be introduced in a franchise system with a sales target of 100 food carts within three months.
Kriangkrai Chamnanpaisarn, managing director of James Chicken Rice Co, said the company had received 40 inquiries to date from prospective franchisees.
The company was registered with capital of one million baht and is wholly owned by the heartthrob, whose khao man kai (chicken rice) song topped the charts a few years ago.
A franchisee will pay 35,000 baht for a cart, 50 sets of dishes, two stainless steel pots and other kitchen utensils.
"We don't charge extra for the franchise fee, as an investor would have paid the same amount of money for all the products we provide. But we may earn a little profit as we ordered the products in bulk," said James.
All franchisees have to sell the food from the cart, and even if they own a shop they must put the cart in front of the store as it is the trademark of the business.
All the food ingredients -- rice, chicken, sauce and soup -- would be prepared from the company's central kitchen and delivered to the franchisees, said Mr Kriangkrai.
