Later this month at Imprinta, Dainippon Screen will begin an aggressive move into the PostScript imaging market by introducing five brand-new PostScript imagesetters.

Screen will also announce new color systems and scanner enhancements as part of its effort to embrace desktop color within its prepress product family.

The product blitz, nearly as large as the massive rollout Screen launched at Drupa, is an indication of Screen's intensive research and development investment aimed at solidifying its position as a key player in the color prepress market.

The market for drum-based PostScript imagesetters is quickly becoming saturated with suppliers. Yet Screen, like the other major color vendors, hopes it can capitalize on its established presence in the color scanner and prepress system market to broaden its scope into imagesetting.
