Dec. 29--This past year, the video game world wasn't spinning with as much excitement as in 2001. It would be hard to top that year's industry circus.
In 2001, Sony's PlayStation 2 was looking great with spectacular, exclusive titles like "Grand Theft Auto 3," "Devil May Cry," "Metal Gear Solid 2," "Gran Turismo 3" and "Final Fantasy X."
Also in 2001, gaming giant Nintendo released the Game Boy Advance and its next-level console, the GameCube. Microsoft stormed onto the scene with its first console, the Xbox.
This past year was not as monumental, but it was still memorable for video games.
