At around 9:30 p.m. on April 14, a man entered the F&D Food Market in Shreveport, Louisiana, pointed a gun at store owner Mohammad Zeidan, and demanded money. Zeidan grabbed for the gun and the two began wrestling for control. During the scuffle, the robber, Michael House, fired one shot that struck the store owner in the right shoulder. Despite the injury, Zeidan was able to retrieve his own gun and return fire, causing House to flee.
