Jul. 18--Don't expect to see the Andersen brand on flooring, countertops or tiles. Bayport-based Andersen Corp., 100 years old and looking forward, is sticking to what it does best: windows and doors.
Ten decades and two world wars have passed since Hans Andersen founded his lumber company on the St. Croix River, amid the sawdust of the white pines that once filled the forests here. Over the years Andersen Corp. has engineered countless technical changes to its windows and the patio doors it invented, and a new generation of largely nonfamily leaders is rebuilding Andersen into a nimbler, more customer-oriented company.
